School holidays are just around the corner — and if you’re looking for something fun, active and meaningful for the kids, we’ve got exciting news! Laserzone Sunshine Coast is launching a brand new School Holiday Program designed especially for ages 7–14.

This program brings together everything kids love about Laserzone, along with structured activities that encourage teamwork, confidence and connection… all while having an absolute blast.

5 SECRETS TO IMPROVE YOUR LASER TAG GAME

1. GET TO KNOW THE ARENA

Check out the arena map and learn your way around the maze. Moving around allows you to find more points than standing still. When you get tagged, move away from your opponent and wait in cover until your pack activates. Moving around also allows you to complete objectives, like destroying base stations, which will give you additional points.

2. TAKE AIM, PEW PEW PEW!

Be ready to fire at any time! Keep your laser up and your finger on the trigger.

Being accurate helps! Different sensor areas are worth different point values. In a typical game, the chest is worth the most points.

Base stations also award points. In most game formats they are worth 2001 points and can be destroyed once each per game. There are 6 base stations in total, however you can not destroy your home base station in a team game! This makes it a great idea or organise a defense to protect your base.

3. MAZE SECRETS

There are features you probably didn’t even know existed!

Look up! Keep an eye out for Targets on the roof. In certain game modes, Targets can give you advantages or special abilities, like shields, stealth or even invincibility. Check with your Mission Master to see what mode the Targets are on. You can also ask your Mission Maser for special tips about other features or game tips!

4. IT’S A TEAM GAME

Utilise your team members.

Plan strategies, such as defending your home base station, attacking your opposition base stations, or moving in coordinated groups. Remember there’s safety in numbers, work in small groups and remember to watch each other’s backs and alert each other to enemies.

5. BECOME THE HUNTER!

Look and listen for your prey.

Each pack makes lots of unique sounds, like when you fire the laser, when you’re tagged and when you reactivate. This means, if you are familiar with the sounds, you can detect when enemies are close and what they are doing.

When packs are active, they can often cause reflections on walls and ceilings. Look carefully around corners and be ready if you see any reflected lights.

You’ve done it all before. The party at home approach and the mess that entails, the outdoor party and the panic as the weather report predicts rain. You want a stress and hassle free day for the whole family.

Our laser tag parties are easy, low fuss and great value. From the time you arrive to the time you leave, your party will be busy enjoying the attractions and having the time of their lives. As the organiser, you get to kick back and either enjoy the ride or join in the fun and excitement! All you need to do is book and get the kids to Laserzone on the day!

Upon arrival you’ll be shown your table area, which you have for the duration of your party. We’ll bring out lollies, water and popcorn, and make sure everyone receives their arcade credits so they can get straight into the action! Once we’ve finalised your pizza selections you’re right to take a break and watch the magic happen.

The first 20 minutes are spent in the arcade, so if anyone is a little late they won’t miss out on any laser tag. The next step in the adventure is the briefing room, where your party will learn to play laser tag. Your party will play 3 x laser tag missions with short breaks in between so there is time to stay hydrated and have snacks.

If you would like to join in playing laser tag, one relative can play FREE in each mission so long as there is space available. The party will finish with pizza and cake.

5 TIPS TO CREATE A BETTER APPLICATION

We've read a lot of resumes. Here's our advice for submitting a banging application.

We know applying for a job can be daunting. Finding good advice about what employers are looking for is tough and every employer is different. Our tips should help you connect to any employer (not just Laserzone).

1. Spell the business name correctly.

This might seem like a no brainer, but it's a very common mistake on many resumes. Getting simple details right is important, it shows you're paying attention and you care.

2. Personalise your application.

Writing a cover letter can be hard and you'll be tempted to use the same cover letter for every application. While you may not need to change all of the details, there are simple things you can do to make it more specific to the position you are applying for. Instead of writing "I am interested in a position in your company", write "I am interested in [position title] at [company name] because...".

3. Show don't tell.

Avoid writing lists of your attributes or skills. Instead, talk about how your experiences have given you certain skills. For example, playing soccer taught you the importance of team work to achieve goals.

4. Be front and centre.

When applying for any position, your aim is to prove why you're the best person for the job. Essentially you're selling yourself. The best way to do that is to be seen, have confidence and engage with the people in the organisation personally as much as you can.

5. Think about what the employer wants.

Remember, employers are looking for people who they feel will care about their work and perform the role well. Spend time thinking through your application, ensure you're meeting the position requirements, and have someone check over your application to give you feedback.
